Can of worms!

Mike, I think you're fishing! :D
Bushrat and I shared an exchange the other day, and he brought up a great point on meat salvage of rutted bou. He's certainly passioate about how he feels. I can't help but feel it's a waste too. There's a greater value to an animal beyond horn and hide.
I think it starts with our raising. What core values were taught to us as youngsters? I was raised with and raise my kids the same way. The number one priority when pulling the trigger is to put meat on the table. To me, it's the ulimate sense of being the "Provider" for the family.
To some, I've read on this forum that almost every part of the animal must be used. Anything less is considered unethical....by their standards.
Ethic by definition:
"Conforming to accepted standards: consistent with agreed principles of correct moral conduct".
While certain activities are not strictly illegal, they are certainly not ethical.
Maybe "Socially Acceptable Behavior" fits better. The root of the problem lies in the fact that there are no agreed principles in concrete. There is a ton of grey area left open for interpretation. Some of the laws are made to establish socially acceptable behavior. When it comes to ethics, I believe there are two basic types of people.
1. PERSONALITY ETHIC: Is the person that says and does the right things when it best suits a particular situation.
2. CHARACHTER ETHIC: The person that always does the right thing even when nobody's watching.
Laws are like Padlocks...they're in place to keep honest people honest. So, until everyone starts following the law, (established standards), ethical standards will remain a point of contention between hunters who have different personal values.
