[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Meat Posted by Hoyt on Dec 07 2005 To me it’s very simple. 1. I hunt to put food on the table. I prefer game meat, and have had game meat as a large part of my diet since I was a child. My grandparents raised chickens, ducks, rabbits, and geese for consumption and had a half a cow and a hog butchered every year. I hadn't even eaten store bought meat until I was 15 or so. 2. We have salvage laws, because it is the foundation of why we hunt. The idea or act of hunting evolved, because humans needed to kill, and consume animals to survive. Consumption is a huge part of that equation. Take away the consuming part and the only thing that you have left is killing. We don’t have a killing season, but we do have a hunting season. Great topic, I just love this forum, because I couldn’t imagine some of these topics coming up in camp without causing a ruckus. Previous: yea right 4whlr Dec 07 2005 Next: Can of worms!
