I believe the ethics we impose on ourselves and the laws we have adopted collectively, are largely due to our culture. In Africa (I have not hunted there, so all this is heresay from those that have), it is a very rare ocassion when meat is taken from the "Trophies". More often than not, all the meat is left for the scavengers. Especially, if they cannot drive the vehicle (from which they often shoot) directly up to the animal. Most of us would find this practice objectionable, but it works for them, I suppose.
This subject has been at the back of my mind forever. Now it has come full front. No sleep tonight. With the ability to move as we do today, I am certain there has to be an ecological imbalance due to our actions. To what extent, dunno.
