Bears
Posted by twodux on Dec 12 2005
If you believe all bears will vacate the area where humans are detected all the time, you're as naive as the person who believes every bear is about to charge every time. I know too many people who have had run-ins with bears to believe they are all in mortal fear of humans. I know four different people who have been bitten by bears, including one who was bitten on two different occasions, and a second who was mauled at a remote airstrip last year, then charged while dragging out deer this year. He shot the bear this year at 15 feet. That bear was obviously not afraid of humans. There were probably at least 10 serious encounters with bears here in the western sound this year.
