I also agree with twodux, bears do not evacuate the area when humans come into the area, if that was the case then Timothy Treadwell and Amy Huegenard would still be alive today. I've had a few encounters myself and one was very, very close. As long as bears and humans frequent the same area's there will be attacks, bluff charges, and close encounters, that's just the way it is, if a bear wants to have a face to face with you, it will, one way or the other.
