I just wanted to point you to an interesting site that presents the historic cumulative data.  All of the incidents you have stated that resulted in injury are in that data base.  The bluff charges, etc. are not.  I didn't want to stir up another hornets nest.  (though I probably should have known it would)

I have had my share of accidental encounters.  In fifteen years in the SE have accidentally approached, or have been approached to within thirty yards (later measured) by four browns and one interior grizzly.

Don't you think it is surprising that the popular perception that polar bears are the most predatory and dangerous is not reflected in the data?

I am not a Treadwell fan either but he was living with national park bears and they probably behave differently.
