A friend and I had an 18' cat and ended up getting a little trigger happy once on a river that was lower than normal and dropping. The weight made for 3 extra days of dragging the boat down river and were we ever tired. Obviously you cannot jettison meat to save weight once you get in this kind of a situation either. The family sent the trooper helicopter out to look for us, etc. The troopers were cool, they brought a jet boat and helped us out of the field, but we had to do some tall explaining to the wives after that. It was 3 years before I could stockpile enough political capital to go on a serious hunt again. A Sat-phone would have been worth its weight in gold - "Hey, we're OK, it will just be a lot longer than we thought."
