great topic

This is an excellent topic, and one that we need to be more proactive about spreading to the non-hunting public.  We all know that there is a lot of misinformation and misperception out there about what hunting is and who hunters are.  Lets face it-some of it is our own fault.  Most hunters I know would rather be out hunting or shooting than fighting a propaganda battle with uninformed individuals or groups who oppose something that they don't even understand.  Unfortunately, the reality these days is that hunters and hunting are under constant attack and we need to stand up and get the truth out there.  The two best things we can do to preserve our hunting heritage are educate the public on our own ethics and efforts as conservationists and get young people involved in hunting.  I read something recently that really disturbed me.  I don't know that it applies to Alaska (yet), but in the Lower 48 the average age of hunters is rising and fewer young people are taking it up.  We all know where that trend could lead.  If we all make an effort to get the truth about hunting and hunters out there and to pass our love of hunting on to the next generation maybe we can reverse that trend.
