Thoughts on predator control
Posted by twodux on Dec 21 2005
Mark (bushrat) , that might have been the best post I've seen on here. If other hunters aren't worried about our image as hunters, then we're doomed. I've chatted with many big city people who are anti hunting and when I make my case they almost always come around that maybe hunting isn't such a bad thing, even if it isn't for them. But it's the image thing that gets them to be against hunting in the first place. Images of crazed people flying around shooting animals out of planes give the animal rights people ammunition to use against us at the polls. Think about it. Why do you think some states have voted to outlaw trapping? Because PETA has painted a picture in their heads of some poor animal chewing it's leg off in a leg hold trap to escape.

Some people will always be against hunting and trapping and fishing for emotional rather than logical reasons. But we don't need to push away the ones in the middle who are indifferent. We need to give a good image of ourselves and hunting. Arial killing gives us a black eye that will come back to haunt us.
