I want to jump into the fray here, since you made a the comment about meat hunting and sport hunting and a different ethical standard.  Let us kick the doors open here and talk about subsistence hunting and a code or standard that should apply.

I think that many of us forget the fact that the laws of Alaska are most adamantly written around total consumption of almost all game animal save it be bears and wolf etc.  As written sport, or let us move to the real definition; “Trophy Hunting,”really have an ethical place in wildlife laws of Alaska.

Now for my real question?  Has subsistence hunting served its useful corse, can it be justified in today’s Alaska?   Or, are we all really just subsistence hunters?   Which definition is better for the resource and how do we bridge the gap of disparity in the laws?
