I hear ya

We're basically on the same page. Used to frost me too, until I found out that without non-res hunters our Fish and Game wouldn't be funded worth a hoot. Personally, I'd like to see more general fund monies go into ADFG budget. Hunters in Alaska overwhelmingly oppose that idea because they are afraid that if non-consumptive users "contribute" (by proxy via general funds---'their' money as well as 'ours') to game management, we'll have to allow them a bigger say in how all wildlife is managed. Interestingly, I think if hunting cleaned up its act (especially in Alaska)that hunters would have nothing to fear from the non-hunting public having a say in game management, and thus, paying for it as well.

I'm also against waste and attitudes that are going to the downfall of hunting. I think the transfer-of-possession "donation" program is broken in some ways. It does allow what you say. But in other cases I know of---like guides keeping the meat...like Homerdave said, he is the meat hunter basically paired with the trophy hunter---it is at least a win-win given that trophy hunting is here to stay. Big business too. Not gonna stop it. So how do we "deal" with it? That's all my bush-pilot buddy and I were talking about. If you'd of been there I think you'd find we echoed some of your sentiments <grin>.
Thanks for clarifying.
Best, Mark
