Clarification
Posted by Akres on Dec 23 2005
First allow me to state that I am not either of the gentlemen I used as examples, in my original post. Quite the contrary, I am in the middle of the two examples, neither of which are at the far ends of the spectrum. I purposefully did not choose to represent the extremes. I am one of the "Privileged", having the opportunity to take scores of big and small game in Alaska. Eat it almost every day, save the days trips to the big city, and then it is fast food, like most.
Second, I don't think some of the individuals really know how subsistance taken game is utilized. Whether some choose the terms market hunters, commercial operators, prehistoric homosepians or whatever, they are/were subsistance hunters. What I am saying is that without sport hunters stepping up and demanding protection (and paying for it) of the resources, fish, game and habitat, there would be little of it left. Certainly not enough to hunt.
