[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Should be thanking our servicemen Posted by Terry on Dec 23 2005 Homedave, let me share a little experience, about those GI's from my personnel experience. I just retired and returned back to Alaska after serving 20 years in the best Air Force in the world. In 20 years I got to spend 3 Christmas's with my family in the lower 48 were I was originally from, and 6 years in the lower 48. I’ve spent most of my time over-seas from central and South America, Asia, Africa, numerous tours to the desert for both conflicts. Missed half of my daughter’s life and got to see my mom, bother and sister every couple years, now my dad has passed away and can never get that time back with him. For some reason too many people in this state thinks everything in Alaska belongs to just Alaskan’s. Unless you’re a native everyone came from somewhere else. Problem is not enough people remember that they are American. GI's give up more than most can imagine, I personally feel lucky cause I'm here today. Unfortunately I have over 2000 other brothers and sisters that are will never be able to go hunting with their familys because they gave their lives for our great country(but you dont want these same people to hunt your bears, goats and sheep)and that’s not to include all the other wars and conflicts. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and please say a prayer for our men and women that’s in harms way.
