[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Sat phone Posted by Sollybug on Dec 28 2005 I take a sat phone only on extended solo hunts to remote areas which is when everyone worries about me. When I go with partners its a lot safer and someone is there to help. On the local road system someone knows where I am and when I will be home. And when I fly in I dont have money left for a sat phone rental. But I probably wouldnt be allowed to go on long sheep hunts solo without a sat phone. I think last years sat phone bill was 160 or so for 3 weeks rental and 40 minutes air time. I can call home every night from anywhere on the planet and update my location. That way if there was an emergency at home I could be contacted also. I rent from GMPCS in Florida and see other hunters at the UPS office in the Fall sending their phones back also. I have never had a problem with them and no extra charges period. Previous: SHEEP Hoyt Dec 28 2005 Next: sat phones Hoyt Dec 29 2005 Message Thread:
