Floating
Posted by Barron on Dec 29 2005
Kotz has been as close as a sure thing for Bou in the last couple of years as there is. Its invested with bears, or at least thats the report that we get from the Float hunters we send there every year.
The Squirrel, Porcupine and Noatak are all good bets for Bou and Bears.
Moose on the other hand requires a little more work. Few and far between with the Kobuk being my best bet.
Mavrik Air Fly's up there. Circle Air also flys. Jim Rude was one of the best and he is no longer there. Kobuk River outfitters is also a good choice for drop offs on the Kobuk. Joe Jackson has lived up there since the dust were rocks and the rocks were glaciers. Brooks range aviation is also very good. Ask for Judy. Tracey and I supply rafts for most of the Air Taxi's up there in one way or another and I have been doing so since 1992. Mike strahan, has floated the Noatak for sure and Im sure he will pipe in here also to help you.
