I used my 270 wsm on elk and mule deer down here in idaho and I was shooting the barnes TSX 140's.  3 bull elk and 3 mule deer bucks have been killed by my handloaded TSX's. Performances were awesome. Especialy on the elk. All 3 dropped in there tracks and never took another step. The heavier the animal the better they seem to work. The same goes with the long distance issue. Inside 350 yrds they work good. Beyond that and they don't seem to expand as well but I did shoot a mule deer buck at 522 yrds and the exit hole was about as big as a quarter after hitting the shoulder bone. I love these bullets and they just keep getting better and better. The MRX's should be a huge improvement on the long range issue.
