[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Snow Peak Posted by Fullcurl on Feb 02 2006 The Whisperlite was my first stove. Still works great. I use it for car camping and winter trips now. For sheep hunting I am currently using a Snow Peak Giga Power titanium stove. My entire cook kit is the stove, a 250 fuel cannister (13 oz) a 1.3 liter Evernew pot (6 oz) and lexan spoon (with the handle cut-off). All the components fit inside the pot for a compact 22 oz package. If I was in the market for a new stove I'd choose the MSR pocket rocket over the snow peak. I've tested them side by side and the Pocket rocket has been slightly superior and is about half the price. The new jet boils are intriguing, but don't see how it can get me any lighter than I already am. If I was floating or using ATV, etc. I'd stick with the Whisperlite.
