x bullets
Posted by .338 mag. on Feb 03 2006
My family has used 30-06 180 gr. and .225 and 250 gr. x bulets in .338 on moose, caribou, brown bear, black bear and a wolf. We are very pleased with the results. I know other bullets probably kill just as well because my friends and hunters on this forum use them with very good results. I don't have the money, time or desire to test and use a bunch of bullets. We have a very good selection of bullets to pick from. It has changed my thoughts on bullet weight and sectional density. An Australian pro hunter named Bob Penfeld or something like that was in on the culling of over 30,00 animals over a period of a few years. A bunch of donkeys, probably camels, water buffalo and who knows were killed. Wore out several barrels on a .308 and used a .340 Weatherby. He is quoted as saying he preferred the x bullet and the Woodleighs. I can see where after all that he can form an opinion. Very few men will ever have the oppurtunity to observe that mny animals being killed. When I buy reloading components I find what I am satisfied with and buy a bunch of that combo in the same lot number, otherwise I would be at the reloading bench looking for the magic combo every time a new bullet came out instead of at the range or hunting camp. This forum will help you. A bunch of these folks have the wisdom of both hunting and shooting years behind them. I learn from them everyday !!!
