Love my ancient whisperlight, but for sheep switched to a cannister stove. I get 17 24 oz boils to the cannister. In the field I keep track by using a rock to scratch a mark on the cannister. I would cauton that not all makes of gas are created equal. I tested by puting various cannisters in the freezer then attempting to use them. MSR and Bruton gas works fine  at low temp but coleman does not. intruged by jet boil but  my current rig works pretty well.
