Mike you speak some truth to the unexperienced though it goes much farther then any one group of people.  After my short 10 years in Alaska I'd rather hunt with a military member then most locals how've been here for as long as I have or longer.

Even our fish and game offices has bowed to the destruction of herds, quoting on biologist poster, "don't make the hunt into something it's not (circle slaughter "hunt")".

We've long been fighting a battle just in the bowhunting community alone.  Something most don't see as we are or atleast seem to be a minority along the haul road.   BLM and the USFWS has already started "watching" and surveying "US" bowhunters, something most don't know or care to know.  Witht he amount of fed lands you're exactly right.  This hunt is going to get shut down in the next handful of years.  It make take a little time but it WILL happen!  Hike in's for sheep and bou are over here in the near future.  This 400+ stretch of road, which is around a 4000 sq mile bowhunting only area, the largest in the USA is now just an access corridor!  I've spent the past 10 years in this area "growing up" as an new ALaskan, ex military type.  SO I can see where these guys who are current active duty or more types can get riled at your comments, but hole heartily agree, however the problem is much broader then just the NEW folks to Alaska!!!!  Time to start rethinking the next 10 years in Alaska.
