Burden of proof is yours
Posted by Tater on Feb 10 2006
Mike,
What exactly are you expecting him to prove?  Almost every statement you've made in this thread is an opinion or speculation and you haven't included any facts that I've seen.  Can you prove that 8 of 10 people on the haul road are military?  I don't think you can.  So that would be speculation.  How long do you have to live in Alaska to no longer be considered a "short timer"?  I'm a 27 year military person, have been an Alaska resident since 1980, but haven't "lived" there since 1994.  Am I a short timer or do I fall into a "middle of the road" category?  Your past comments have always been tactful in regards to the military and I, for one, appreciate that.  This time however, I do think you'll offend some military people because your post, intentional or not, seems to imply military people will go to the Dalton, tear it up with ATVs and be long gone before they see the extent of their destruction.  I just don't think you can lay most of the blame, for what I agree is going to happen, onto the military.  Best regards.
