Tried the primer/powder/paper trick and it didn't work, but after some thought, we took the battery out of the camera, found a not so thin piece of steel wire, and used two rocks to pound the wire thin in one spot.  We then dumped out some rifle powder onto some tinder, the battery heated up the wire and lit the powder, presto fire.
