They do make sheathes for them and you can usually find them in a store that sells commercial gear. There's a hard plastic one that I don't really like, and I've seen two different nylon ones. There's also a nylon web belt with a plastic clip for a buckle that works good with them, or a lot of guys tape them upside down on the suspenders of their raingear so they're handy to get at in an emergency like getting your leg caught in the byght of a crab pot bouyline.
