Whisperlite comments

Romo,
The temperature issue may be a factor. Another is obtaining fuel bottles. You cannot transport them via commercial air, unless you ship them as Hazardous Materials and pay the requisite HAZMAT fee (Alaska Airlines charges $25). That's an expensive fuel bottle. Best to have your air charter purchase these things for you in advance and have them ready when you arrive at their office.
The Whisperlite can be a tempermental stove. I've used one for years and it seems to require constant attention in cleaning the fuel jet. I switched over to the XGK and have been very satisfied with it. It's a multi-fuel stove, so you can burn just about anything in it. Same deal with the fuel though; have your air charter pick that up for you in advance. I usually bring a gallon of white gas (Coleman fuel) anyway, and the XGK will burn that just fine (well, so will your Whisperlite, for that matter). I use it for starting fires. Naturally, you must be extremely careful with that (gotta say that for the new guys).
Hope this helps!
-Mike
