[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] yes, esbit Posted by jklingel on Feb 16 2006 I read an article about a "light back packer" who uses these exclusively. They sound pretty good, and I was thinking about using small chunks to heat up "propane" bottles in the cold. The guy in the article used small chunks to boil small quantities of water, and said they cut pretty nicely and burn with very little ash. If nothing else, they may be great to warm up a chilled body. They heated water to boiling really quickly and they NEVER spill and get gas in your pack. God I hate the smell of gasoline; one reason I have started using "propane". The bulky iso-bu bottles are a bit of a pain, but I am going to make a puncturing ring so I can riddle the hummers and safely burn them.
