I use tennis shoes over my waders. On occasion I have used hiking boots. Whatever footwear I use (over my breathables) specifically for moose hunting I plan on throwing away after the hunt.

As for holes in breathables, good luck. 1. The breathable waders I purchased you had to use an iron to patch the hole-not very practical in the field. 2. I had a tough time even identifying where the holes were located on the waders. I ended up buying a new pair. 3. If you have any medium/large plastic bags in camp you can put those on before putting on the waders, if the hole is below the crotch. Problem is the garbage bag will retain heat and moisture.
