[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] opinions on rifle makes Posted by fish doc on Feb 22 2006 I would like to ask, especially from people that own multiple brands, opinions on pros/ cons of common brands of hunting or varmint (two separate purchases) bolt-action rifles for hunting. I specify for hunting because I don’t care what they look like, or how they keep resale value. I’m probably only going to buy a synthetic/ stainless hunting rifle for a variety of my own reasons. I own several Ruger and Tikka firearms and have been quite happy with them. I also own a Win. Mod 70 (but it is a used, blued Black Shadow, so I reserve judgment). I’ve never owned or shot any varmint rifles, but will need one within a few years. I think I’m most interested in Browning and Winchester. I know I don’t want to spend a lot of money just to own a more exclusive gun. For whatever reason (can’t really tell why), all the Remingtons I’ve held in stores just haven’t felt right to me.
