Physical Conditioning + Acclimatization = Better Performance at Altitude

Yes - there are all sorts of ways to temporarily tweak the system, on the other hand you’ll in no way completely buck the formula above.

I would also say you are still not talking really high altitudes.  I’d take up aerobic workouts and try to remain healthy as possible prior getting over any respiratory symptoms like coughing, congestion, colds, flu, Bronchial troubles, etc.

Everybody is a different due to physical conditioning, body type, heredity, diet, drinking, and overall healthiness.  Use the formula above for success vs. all others combined!  Take up aerobic forms of exercise (get your own wind up) and try to acclimatize as best you can.  Hydration and proper diet are key in this process.
