Have you considered the Thompson Center Encore?  They are pricey up front, but you could get a light caliber barrell for now, and swap it out later with something with some punch to it.

There is another gun setup like this with like a 20 ga. shotgun barrell, a .243 rifle barell but I can't remember the brand name on that one.

I have the ultra light Ruger that I got as a kid.  Keep in mind a lot of youth guns are lighter and hence more felt recoil.
