Wife
Posted by BigTex on Mar 02 2006
My wife is a lefty and small framed. She really wanted to start hunting deer and larger game. I bought here a browning micro hunter, left handed in 7mm-08. It fits her well and she shoots it well. At first when she would shoot it at the range she would lay a folded up coat over her shoulder. This allowed her to get used to the way a rifle recoils with out getting a fear or a flinch. She now will put a box or two through it with nothing and loves it. This year she has killed a coyote, a doe, and a huge 10 point buck with it. She has been using 139 gr. hornady SP factory loads (3000 fps). We are doing a bear hunt in Maine this year and I have loaded her some 160 gr. nosler partitions. The rifle shoots very well. I would get a rifle that fits HER. It will be easier for you to adjust to a rifle that doesn't fit right than someone who is new. I would sugest the Browning A Bolt Micro Hunter, Rem model 7, or Rem Mountain rifle in 7mm-08. Wife got tired of me shooting hers some much for Christmas she bought me the Rem Mountain Rifle in 7mm-08 Laminated stock and stanless barrel. Be careful!!!!! I then had to buy her a Leupold scope, a custom hunting knife she wanted, a pack, and the list goes on and on. She now wants a bow! (I love it)
