[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] bone-in laws Posted by B_M on Mar 02 2006 Tim - I could be wrong, but it's my impression that the bone-in laws are designed for two purposes, neither of which is keeping non-locals out. First of all, there have been problems in some areas with people taking more than their limit. If you cut up the meat into little chunks it's difficult to tell if there's on caribou there or maybe 1.5 caribou. Secondly, it's there to make sure people take all of the meat out of the field. Again, if the meat is cut into chunks it's much more difficult for a game warden to tell if all of the meat is there. It's just a way to enforce game limits and wanton waste laws...at least that's my understanding. In the units this law is in place they don't seem to want to keep non-locals out - these are the very units that non-resident hunting is most common.
