[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] guides Posted by Sollybug on Mar 02 2006 I think FBKS idea of talking to the hunter at length is good. I have been on two guided hunts previously and know that the first thing that comes to mind if you dont harvest game or even see game is the guide is overharvesting his area or a bad guide. On one of the trips it was obvious the guide booked a lot more clients than his area could support. It would be very helpful for the guide to explain accurately the odds of success and the kind of competition in his area. If I organize a hunt and strike out I am not out too much money and only blame myself. If you pay tons of money and read all these testimonials and see pictures of huge animals which guides need to use to attract business and then have a bad hunt its a set up for conflict. The local fishing guides are good at telling clients their odds of success and even cancelling them or offering another trip if the odds drop or weather is bad. Hunting guides should use the same practice. Previous: Some info on hunter motives, etc. Michael Strahan Mar 03 2006 Next: it goes both ways Alasken Mar 02 2006 Message Thread:
