Guide Questions and Issues
Posted by Michael Strahan on Mar 03 2006
There's been some discussion lately about the relationship between guides and hunters, and I thought it might be good to consolidate some of this under its own thread.  So to get it started, I'll lay out a few general concepts to chew on.  This isn't about the process of selecting a guide, or booking a hunt, or prices, etc.  It's strictly about the relationship you have with your guide, and he with you.  What you tell each other about expectations, skills, preferences, etc.

1.  What sort of things should you tell your guide when you book the hunt?

2.  What sort of things should you tell your guide when you arrive in camp?

3.  What kind of communication do you expect from your guide (what sort of information).

4.  How important is it that your guide is really communicative with you in the field?

You don't have to be a guide or a guided hunter to participate in this.  Anyone is welcome, even if you're just imagining what it might be like.  Feel free to toss in anything else that I'm missing here.

-Mike
