Reading a proposal on the internet does not give you insight into the discussion that went on concerning a proposal an AC may or may not make.It also does NOT give you insight into who the members of an AC are, and where they live within the region.
The proposal you refer to was first brought forth by ONE member of our AC. It was discussed at length. While the MAJORITY of our AC supported the proposal, that does not mean I did. It also does not mean that the numbers of moose in the unit supported the proposal. In fact, they did not. As is commen in rural Ak. locals in a unit that has less animals than in the past are jealous when non locals come into their region to hunt.
The fact that this proposal was brought forth by my AC is NOT an indication that moose hunting in this sub unit is poor. If the hunting was really poor, non res would have been eliminated long ago.
My statement is truthful. Hunting is pretty good here. That statement is in referance to hunting in general, for all species, but is applicable to moose. It is pretty good bacause, like many areas, if you get off the beaten path, you will readily find moose.
I'm more than hapy to see non locals hunt here. It brings in revenue from outside the area. We need that. Additionally, this unit is not conducive to normal means of non locals accessing hunting country.....i.e. aircraft use. There are no transporters here. I do not feel non locals are much of a threat as they mostly have to hunt the main roads and trails.
The entire quote of mine you pasted in your other post is accurate and truthful. This is a good area and despite the access, we have not destroyed the country side. Unfortunately, the only way you'll ever know that is to come here. We both know that won't happen.
