270 for younguns
Posted by chignik on Mar 04 2006
AkCub,
I think its the perfect caliber for your son. I use a 270 or 280 for lots of hunting. My hunting pardner bought a 270 in Rem700 for his 13 yr old daughter 3 yrs ago. She has taken two rams on 3 sheep hunts. One was missing a horn but she wanted to take it; her proudest hunt.
Break the barrel in right, good info on shooting forum.
Take him shootin' for about 300 rounds per year.
The best thing about a 270 is its a mans rifle that a young teen can learn to shoot and he will never out-grow the caliber.

Good Huntin',  Les
