I too have had similar experience. 4 years ago went on an elk hunt to Co. with a group and my Dad who was 68 at the time. Came in to our drop camp(11,500 feet) to a foot of snow, tents partially collapsed, and night and temps. rapidly falling. Outfitter was supposed to check on us every 2 days, but we didn't see him ever again because he was drunk, in a bar! 75 MILES AWAY! One of his wranglers brought up a horse and packed out what he could, because by then the early snow storms that had moved through the area had left about 2+ feet behind. This was done 6 days, and 1 bull elk later. There will always be stories like yours, mine and others, but I guess thats why forums like this is the closest to word of mouth recommendations. I am going to bring my Dad to AK soon for a spring black bear hunt and you can be sure I will be asking who the good guys are! Good hunting, Jeff L Previous: questions for guides Sollybug Mar 04 2006 Next: Guide-Client relations Sollybug Mar 05 2006 Message Thread:
