I have never tried to call in a brown bear but have called in a few Black bears. The thing that has happend to me every time is they come running hard untill you quit calling. The minute you quit they quit coming. I think it is a predator instinct in them.

So I would think if your calling and have no luck you are probably safe walking out. I would definately keep my eyes open but with my black bear experiance i don't think they are going to hang in the area looking for you.

When you call they know where you are. It is not like they have to look to hard.
