Get prepared
Posted by Pigeon on Mar 05 2006
Well I think there are three colums, everything should be based upon:

#1: Get knowledge and basics: How to make fire without matches, how to navigate wthout a map, how to find something to eat, but this could also be knowledge of daily things: how to repair a car, and much more. Do sports, be in a good condition - everytime!
BUT also: Find plans how to react when things will happen: What will I do when a theft enters my home, what will I do when I am lost in wilderness: Prepare Yourself with ideas and plans before things happen - You will find a lot of mistakes before they will happen or details which will make the difference

#2: Ge prepared: If You go to the wilderness or even in daily trips in town, donīt go unprepared: When I leave home, I have always in my pockets: Knive, matches, cord...
If You go to another place, be prepared for much more: taking my Surefire, rainproof and warm clothing, good footwear, maybe a Snickers or something to eat...
If You go into the wilderness: Extra Matches, map, bigger knive than my pocket knive, extra Batteries for the flaslight, food, weapon, extra amunition, and so on...
Leave notes at good friends, which way you will go and when You will be at home again...

#3 Donīt be headless if stuff happens: You have knowledge to survive and You are prepared. Every situation is different from each other, so You can never train reality, but You could be prepared: So, make the best and go your way. Protect Yourself against the elemnts, plan your resources of energy, estimate what you could do with them and make a plan, which way will be best. And than do it. Straight forward, but reask your plan, how realistic it is to reach your target, think again and change strategy if it is necessary...

Just my 2 cents...
Good luck!
