Bonded Bullets
Posted by JohnP on Mar 06 2006
My first experience with bonded bullets was with the Swift Scirocco when they became available, 150gr 7MM Weatherby. Better results all the way around than the Nosler Partition.Accuracy and bullet weight retention we found to be excellent. I used them on Caribou, Mule deer, Sheep, and White Tail deer. This past Fall My son and I were hunting Mule deer in Montana. He was shooting a 257 Weatherby 110 grain Accubond and shot a buck in his bed at 80 yds through the right shoulder he followed up with a second shot, same shoulder. We found both bullets one weighed 62gr the other 67gr. The velocity out of the 257 Weatherby is about 3500 fps. The core and jackets were still bonded we were amazed to see this because of the close range and velocity. They have the bonding process down to a science for this to work.                                                    Also this past September I used the 260 grain .375 Accubond
on Brown Bear, the rifle was a 378 Weatherby and again the bullet did a good job.It was a pass through so I didn't recover the bullet. The .375 Accubond has a thicker jacket than the smaller caliber bullets, combined with the bonding process and the way this bullet groups it's a winner. I am not afraid of this bullet, it is going to work.
