270
Posted by AkHunter45 on Mar 06 2006
AlaskaCub, your choice of 270 for your son is an excellent choice of caliber and will kill most any North American big game animal. I've taken whitetails, muley's, elk, black bear, caribou, and sheep with it and absolutely love that caliber! If your a reloader you can build up some 160 grain Nolser Partitions for it as well. Now if your intentionally going after brown bear then I would take something with a little more umph behind it or at least have someone carry a bigger backup rifle if he chooses to carry the 270. He is going to love that rifle!!
