Some very good advise I've read so far.

I agree that Sat phones and such are nice to have but do they also (Subconsciously)lead people to taking larger risks because they have that to fall back on? It's just a thought.

Anyway, my top 3 (simplified) would be:

1. Dress appropriately. Cotton kills and wet cotton kills fast. Not enough can be said about proper attire.

2. Know how to build a fire as many ways as you can without matches or a lighter. Practice these skills instead of using your matches when possible too.

3. File a trip plan before your outing. Leave it with someone you can trust with an accurate location.
