Good point.  Wolf populations have likely not increased uniformly across the state.  

However, wolves move around quite a bit.  There has likely been a spillover effect into areas adjacent to those where wolves have increased.

And, it seems unlikely that the increased prey abundance that results from wolf control is the sole explanation for the approximate doubling of wolf numbers.

While all the pieces are not clear to me, what is most important from my perspective is that wolf numbers have almost doubled, even while predator control has been ongoing.
