[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] survival Posted by viktor on Mar 08 2006 The most important thing is to have what you need to survive ON YOUR PERSON! not in a pack or on the four wheeler. Suppose You see a herd of caribou and chase them the fog rolls in or you get turned around and you can not find your tent, pretty tough situation. I carry a small pouch on my belt i have extra bullets a small knife a space blanket a whistle a small piece of rope a compass a space blanket and water proof matches. It does not weigh much and it can save your life. One note is after a couple of years a space blanket becomes brittle and needs replacement as it all sticks together. You will not be comfortable spending hours for the fog to go away but at least you will survive. I also always have a hat in my packet no matter how hot it is. The key is on your person and not at your machine or camp! I had this happen when sheep hunting we got socked in very quickly and could not see at all. We kicked some grassy nobs and rocks and dug a little hole and sat in it with the space blanket, yes it sucked but we survived! Previous: Survival LaneW Mar 05 2006 Next: I like this one...
