44 Super Red Hawk
Posted by Shoot2Kill on Mar 09 2006
Josh,
By no means am I trying to deter you from wanting a hand cannon, but if you're using it for hiking/back up, from personal experience with the 44 Ruger Super Red Hawk, it's a fun gun to have, but it sucks packing it around due to the weight.  What size barrel are you looking at?  I love that gun, but it's just a pain to drag around.  I took it on 2 fly out hunts and it stayed at camp the whole time because it just wasn't convenient to pack around.  There are a lot lighter/just as efficient guns out there if you're solely looking for a hiking gun.  Just my .02.
