I have purchased 300 grain bullets for my .338 at the gun shows. They are by a guy called Grizzly Bullets and come in a plastic presentation case of 10 bullets. They are too pricey to shoot at the gravel pit, and I doubt you could throw one 1500 meters, but for close range big game, what could be better?
