You sure about that?

CZ,
My numbers came directly from Alaska Airlines, where I have worked for 21 years. I just downloaded the most recent info. Other carriers have different standards as to the quantity of ammunition passengers may carry in checked luggage, but Alaska's limit is FIFTY pounds, not ELEVEN.
Just to be sure, I checked TSA's website and they left the quantity up to the carrier at the following link <http://www.tsa.gov/public/interapp/editorial/editorial_1666.xml>, where they conclude their remarks on this as follows: "...Air carriers may have their own additional requirements on the carriage of firearms and the amount of ammunition an individual may place in checked baggage. Therefore, travelers should also contact the air carrier regarding its firearm and ammunition carriage policies."
Do you have other documented information that places a more conservative number on this? Eleven pounds is a bit shy of a hunting trip for many folks. If you have different information, could you post a link and a quote for clarification?
Thanks!
-Mike
