i agree with you 90 percent, everything has a place when it comes to killing something. some areas are not as important as others. The 10 percent that i can't agree with is that a 50bmg is overkill. I belive, from what i've seen, that you can't kill a bear too dead. your not harvesting meat, your out there to make a grave for that bear as quickly as possible..perhaps the 50bmg is the perfect bear gun we'll hardly ever see used..for obvious reasons.
Regardless of opinion, have a great trip, take some good shots and enjoy every minute of it, brown bear hunting is all that they saw, 90 percent boredom and 10 percent adrenaline...very very addictive addrenaline i must add! let us know how it goes.
