Hikers
Posted by test1328 on Mar 19 2006
Falcon,

I used the Alaskan Hikers for my sheep hunt in 04.  They worked out great, with more than enough support in the worst rocks, scree, you name it.  Even with a heavy pack.  I had zero problems with them and think they are great.  My dad went with me in 04 and decided that his Danners were plenty good enough.  His boots were the only thing he really complained about and when he went back in 05, he had a pair of the Alaskan Hikers!  I don't think the extra insulation in the 10" boots would be a problem, but usually in August, that little bit of insulation won't be needed and could cause more sweat build-up and thus blister problems.  I'd go with the uninsulated myself.  Best of luck to you.
