airtaxi's
Posted by mtnman on Mar 24 2006
Another thing to concider and something I have run into is the fact that when an airtaxi contracts with a hunter to drop him/her off they typically do it on a first come first serve basis as far as where/when they are going to put you.. They will do their best to locate you as close as possible to where you want to put in but if they take a booking from a hunter a year out who wants to be dropped in a certain spot they do their best not to stack other hunters in on them during their hunt.  They will at least give a team of hunters a few days to get away from the strip and into the mountains before bringing in another party.  I talked with Kelly Green of McCarth Air about a hunt and he would not drop our party in several area's as he already had hunters slotted to go into those area's. He said he typically gives them 5-6days before he'll bring in another party to a certain drop off.. They all do it differently but I know the airtaxi pilots out of McCarthy will not put you in a certain area on certain dates if they already have a hunters who have paid to be in there for that slot.. It's only good business and hats off to the airtaxi driver who operates his business that way..It only ruins the hunting experience when unethical airtaxi pilots don't self regulate and stack hunters into the field.
