Drying boots
Posted by twodux on Mar 25 2006
The wadded up newspaper system works great. If you're using it for firestarter, just take some extra. You can always burn the leftover so you don't need to haul it back. I've always got some on my boat when I'm deer hunting on Prince William Sound. Then make sure you have a heat source to put the boots close to, but not so close you melt them. Definitly roll them down. If I don't have newspaper with me I put them upside down until no water is running out, then turn them upright near the heatsource. Warm air/steam rises so by having the opening upright it's easier for the moisture to escape.

If I'm remote, I always have a spare pair of boots too, sometimes two extra sets, so if it's taking a long time to dry boots because of the conditions, I still have a dry set to use......and lots and lots of sox.
